How to get here

Cloncurry is a town situated in North West Queensland, Australia, which sits on the junctions of the Matilda Highway and Overlander’s Way.

The Curry, as it is affectionately known by locals, is 120km east of Mount Isa, 400km south of the Gulf of Carpentaria and 770 kilometres west of the city of Townsville along the Overlander’s Way (via the Flinders Highway).

Cloncurry is accessible by road, rail and air and a popular stop for outback adventure coach tours.  The town is populated by 3000 people, most of which know each other by first name.  It is the perfect example of a Country Town, with all the modern necessities required.

Road – Road access to the region is accessible from major cities such as Darwin, Townsville and Brisbane and suitable for all types of vehicles. Download a Map of Outback Queensland in PDF format (4mb).

Bus – Greyhound coaches frequent the town approximately three times a week from Townsville and Brisbane.

Rail & Air – Queensland Rails Travel Train service operates the famous Inlander rail service twice weekly from Townsville and Virgina and Qantas Airlines operate regular services via Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Mount Isa.

Shuttle Bus to Equestrian Centre – There will be a bus provided to help the community to and from the Cloncurry Equestrian Centre. We advise that this is a gold coin donation shuttle and patience is needed in high traffic times.

Shuttle Bus Route will run Cloncurry Equestrian Centre, St Josephs Catholic School, Australia Post Office, beside the entrance of Mary Kathleen Park, opposite Discovery Parks then onto the Cloncurry Equestrian Centre.  

Friday pick ups start on the hours of: 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and drop offs start on the hours of 11pm, 12am and 1am to the Equestrian Centre, and all stops listed above. 

On Saturday pick-ups start on the hours of: 9.30am, 12pm, 3pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and drop off drop-offs start on the hours of: 11pm, 12am, 1am into town.
